The Airports Security Force (ASF) successfully thwarted attempts to smuggle heroin at Islamabad and Karachi airports in two separate operations.
According to reports, the confiscated heroin had a combined estimated value of over Rs40 million. At Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad, ASF personnel acted swiftly upon identifying a suspicious passenger traveling to Riyadh.
During a detailed inspection of the passenger’s luggage, officials discovered 1 kilogram and 960 grams of heroin cleverly hidden inside a harmonium. The passenger, identified as Kashif Rehman, was immediately taken into custody.
The ASF team promptly seized the drugs and handed Rehman over to the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) for further legal proceedings.
A similar incident occurred at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, where ASF officers intercepted another passenger attempting to smuggle heroin worth Rs20 million.
Shaukat Khan, who was set to travel to Dubai, had concealed 1 kilogram and 488 grams of heroin inside a harmonium. A thorough examination of his luggage led to the discovery of the illicit substance, preventing its transportation abroad.
Following standard procedure, ASF authorities confiscated the drugs and transferred Khan to the ANF for further investigation and legal action.
