PESHAWAR: A member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the Provincial Assembly (MPA) is facing accusations of attacking the residence of a Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) Member of the National Assembly (MNA) in Peshawar.
Reports state that PML-N MPA Malik Tariq Awan, along with a group of armed individuals, forcefully entered the home of PTI MNA Muhammad Asif on Monday.
CCTV footage of the incident depicts Awan making lewd gestures.
Asif was not at home during the attack as he was attending a parliamentary party meeting in Islamabad.
Awan has refuted the allegations, asserting that the claims of attacking and firing at Asif’s home are baseless and fabricated. He accused the PTI of being unable to accept its defeat and resorting to false accusations.
Awan stated that he visited Asif’s residence to discuss the inauguration of a bridge, as there is an ongoing competition between them regarding development projects.
He further claimed that the construction of the bridge in Latifabad was approved by the interim provincial government and Asif is unhappy about its inauguration.
Awan alleged that the PTI, especially Asif, is intimidated by his performance and urged the provincial government to take notice of the political vendetta against him.
