Punjab education authorities have approved a new initiative called “Libraries on Wheels” to promote reading culture and digital learning in government schools across Lahore. The project aims to improve access to books and modern educational tools for students.
Modern Mobile Library Project for Schools
The initiative carries an estimated cost of Rs. 198 million. It introduces a mobile library system designed to support both traditional reading and digital education in public schools.
Authorities believe the project will help bridge learning gaps by bringing educational resources directly to students’ classrooms.
Electric Mobile Libraries with Digital Tools
Under the plan, 85 electric vehicles will be purchased and converted into mobile libraries. Each vehicle will be equipped with 20 modern tablets and a large LED screen.
These tools will be used to deliver interactive lessons and digital learning content. In addition, students will have access to a wide range of books and online educational material.
The use of electric vehicles also supports environmentally friendly transport for the initiative.
School-Wise Scheduled Visits
Each mobile library will follow a fixed schedule and visit one government school per day. This system ensures that students in different areas receive equal access to learning resources.
Furthermore, the vehicles will be charged daily at designated charging stations set up within schools. This arrangement is expected to support smooth daily operations without disruption.
Focus on Reading Culture and Learning Quality
Education officials stated that the project is designed to encourage reading habits among students in government schools. At the same time, it aims to improve the overall quality of education through modern learning methods.
