ISLAMABAD: The government of Kuwait has come up with the decision to consider some new possibilities for setting up petroleum storage plants in Pakistan. This is expected to have many advantages for both the countries.
Strengthening energy partnership
Ali Pervaiz Malik, Federal Minister for Petroleum, held discussions with Kuwaitโs Ambassador, Mr. Nassar Abdulrahman Jasser Almutairi, in Islamabad on Tuesday.
Thus, both the parties have agreed to collaborate on various common issues between them and further develop their bilateral ties. Minister Malik thanked the Government of Kuwait for promptly responding and sending their ship โKhairpurโ at the earliest.
Gratitude for timely fuel support
The ship carried about 45,000 tonnes of diesel and 10,000 tonnes of jet fuel under special permits. Kuwait took action whenever the Strait of Hormuz was affected.
Furthermore, the officials from the two nations recognized the collaborative work involved and its success in ensuring adequate energy requirements for the country.
In addition, Malik reiterated Pakistan’s continued determination in maintaining stability and peace in the area. The ongoing conflict has had its repercussions not only to the Middle East but also to other countries. Ambassador Almutairi acknowledged Pakistan’s prudent diplomatic approach and urged the nation to remain a force for good. He said that the country had improved its reputation among the nations.
Moreover, Pakistan imports over 60 percent of its diesel requirements from Kuwait under an agreement between their respective national oil companies.
