Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) Peshawar has performed a robotic-assisted knee replacement, marking a significant development in public-sector healthcare. Hospital officials described it as the first procedure of its kind at a public hospital in Pakistan.
The advanced surgery was carried out by the Orthopaedics Department at KTH. Prof Dr Muhammad Siraj, Prof Dr Aul Hakeem and their expert team performed the procedure.
The achievement also provided an opportunity for orthopaedic surgeons from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to observe the latest surgical technique.
Robotic Knee Surgery Performed at KTH
The robotic-assisted knee replacement was conducted at KTH Peshawar by a specialised orthopaedic team. The procedure represents the use of advanced surgical technology within a public-sector hospital.
Hospital officials said the surgery could create new opportunities for advanced orthopaedic treatment. It could also support medical training, research and academic activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
