The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) raided the Passport Office in Kasur on Monday following complaints of alleged corruption and illegal money collection from citizens.
According to sources, FIA Sub-Inspector Rao Shafiq led the operation with a team at the Kasur Passport Office. The raid followed complaints about alleged corrupt practices involving officials and private agents operating at the facility.
During the operation, the FIA detained several passport office employees. Those taken into custody included Assistant Director Muhammad Waqas, Data Entry Operator Muhammad Ilyas and UDC Shahzad Aslam.
Three security guards, identified as Kaleem, Muqeem and Ahmad, were also detained. The FIA further took sweeper Ghulam Mustafa into custody.
Three alleged private agents, identified as Rauf, Irfan and Nauman, were also among those detained during the raid. Punjab Police Constable Rohail, who was deployed for security duties at the passport office, was also taken into custody.
The FIA team seized computers and other equipment from the passport office during the operation. Officials subsequently shifted all 11 detained individuals to Lahore for further investigation.
The raid came after complaints alleged that citizens faced illegal demands for money during passport-related services. The FIA launched the action to investigate the claims and determine whether officials or other individuals were involved in corrupt practices.
However, authorities have yet to disclose detailed findings from the investigation. The FIA has also not officially released further information about the specific allegations against the detained individuals.
The investigation is expected to establish the nature and extent of the alleged corruption at the Kasur Passport Office.
