Two Pakistani citizens were killed and another was injured after Indian Border Security Force personnel allegedly opened fire near the international border in Kasur.
According to security sources, the incident involved three local residents from Ladhar village. The sources said the men were unarmed when the firing took place.
The incident occurred after the three men reportedly moved only a few paces beyond a border pillar. However, security sources said none of them attempted to cross the border fence.
Two Men Killed in Border Firing
Security sources identified the two deceased men as Azmat Rasool, son of Attaullah, and Mohsin Jatt.
Both men were reportedly killed when the Indian BSF personnel opened fire on the group.
The third man sustained injuries during the incident and was reportedly the only survivor of the firing.
According to the sources, the deceased belonged to Jattan Wali Haveli in Ladhar.
The three men were described as local residents of the area and were reportedly unarmed at the time of the incident.
What Happened Near the Border Pillar?
Security sources said the three men had moved only a few paces beyond a border pillar before the firing occurred.
The sources alleged that the Indian Border Security Force personnel opened fire without warning.
However, they maintained that none of the three individuals attempted to cross the border fence.
The incident therefore occurred near the Pakistan-India international border, involving local residents from the Kasur area.
Indian Media Described Men as Infiltrators
Security sources further claimed that Indian media later described the three men as infiltrators.
The sources disputed that characterization and linked it to what they described as a continuing pattern of “false flag” operations.
That characterization remains part of the security sources’ account of the incident.
Meanwhile, the sources maintained that the men had not attempted to cross the border fence.
Security Sources Raise Border Agreement Concerns
According to security sources, the firing on the three unarmed Pakistani citizens constituted a violation of the border agreement.
They also said the incident violated the applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
The allegations concern the circumstances surrounding the firing and the status of the three men near the border.
Two of the men died while another sustained injuries, according to the security sources.
The incident has therefore raised concerns over the treatment of local residents near the Pakistan-India international border.
