A rally was held in Muzaffarabad on Wednesday to mark the 10th death anniversary of Burhan Muzaffar Wani. Leaders, officials and residents participated in the commemorative event.
The gathering included representatives of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, government officials and refugees from Indian-administered Kashmir. Many young Kashmiris also joined the rally.
Rally Draws Leaders And Civil Society Representatives
The rally began at Burhan Muzaffar Wani Chowk and concluded at Alamdar Chowk. Participants carried Pakistani and Azad Jammu and Kashmir flags during the procession.
They also chanted slogans supporting Pakistan and Burhan Wani while criticising India. Speakers described July 8 as a Day of Resistance observed across the Line of Control.
Addressing the gathering, participants said Wani remained a symbol of the Kashmir movement. They added that his legacy continued to inspire many young Kashmiris.
AJK Prime Minister’s spokesperson Shaukat Javed Mir also addressed the rally. He said people in Indian-administered Kashmir remained committed to their demand for self-determination.
Speakers Call For UN Action On Kashmir
During the event, speakers criticised India’s human rights record in the disputed region. They also called for the release of detained Hurriyat leaders, including Shabbir Shah and Yasin Malik.
Furthermore, participants urged the United Nations to implement its resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir. They said Kashmiris should be allowed to exercise their right to self-determination.
The speakers also paid tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces. They said the success of Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos had strengthened Pakistan’s international standing.
