KARACHI: Karachi is expected to experience another spell of hot and dry weather, with temperatures potentially reaching 40 degrees Celsius over the coming days. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) revealed this development today.
On Monday, October 19, the maximum temperature in the city was forecast to reach 38°C. The minimum temperature stood at 25.7°C, while the current temperature was recorded at 27°C, with relative humidity at 60%, according to weather officials.
Chief Meteorologist Anjum Nazir Zaigham said the prevailing hot conditions could continue for another eight to nine days. During this period, temperatures may rise to 40°C, prolonging the uncomfortable weather for residents.
October is generally Karachi’s second-hottest month of the year. The ongoing heat spell is consistent with the seasonal weather pattern, although the prolonged high temperatures may increase discomfort, particularly during daytime hours.
Meanwhile, nighttime temperatures have gradually started declining, indicating a slow transition towards cooler weather.
According to the chief meteorologist, winter typically begins in Karachi around mid-December. The first 10 days of January are generally among the coldest periods of the year in the coastal city.
Residents are advised to take precautions during the hot spell, including drinking sufficient water, avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and limiting strenuous outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours.
The public should also follow official weather updates for further information about changing temperatures and expected relief from the heat.
