KARACHI: Unidentified attackers opened fire at the office of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNA Qadir Patel in Karachi’s Clifton area, prompting a police investigation.
The incident occurred at the MNA’s office in Clifton Block 9 when unidentified suspects allegedly opened fire from a vehicle before fleeing the scene. According to police officials, the attackers targeted the main entrance of the office, where Patel usually enters and exits.
Several bullets struck the office door during the attack. Police recovered five 9mm pistol shell casings from the location as investigators began collecting evidence.
Attackers Target Office Entrance
Authorities said the firing caused damage to the office entrance but fortunately did not result in any injuries or casualties. The suspects managed to escape immediately after opening fire.
Following the incident, a heavy police contingent reached the location and secured the area. A forensic team also inspected the crime scene and collected ballistic evidence for further investigation.
SHO Boat Basin Muhammad Riaz and other police officials were present as investigators examined the area. Officials also reviewed the condition of the damaged door and documented evidence that could help identify the attackers.
Police Launch Investigation
Police have not yet determined the motive behind the attack. Investigators are examining surveillance footage from the surrounding area and collecting statements from possible witnesses.
Authorities are also working to establish the identity of the suspects and determine whether the attack was specifically linked to Qadir Patel or his political activities.
The recovery of shell casings and other forensic evidence could help investigators trace the weapon used in the incident and establish the sequence of events.
Officials said the investigation remains ongoing, while further details are expected as police analyse CCTV footage and other evidence. The absence of injuries has provided some relief, but the attack has raised security concerns around the office of the PPP lawmaker.
