LAHORE: A joint investigation team has cleared PML-N Punjab Assembly member Saqib Chadhar and his wife, Sameera, of allegations involving actor Momina Iqbal.
An investigating officer informed a Lahore court on Thursday that the suspects were declared innocent during the JIT investigation.
Additional Sessions Judge Nusrat Siddiqui heard the case.
During the hearing, the officer said the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency had changed the investigation and formed a JIT.
The team subsequently conducted its probe and cleared Chadhar and his wife of the allegations.
Police Do Not Require Suspectsโ Arrest
The investigating officer told the court that police no longer required the arrest of either suspect following the JITโs findings.
In light of the statement, Chadhar and Sameera withdrew their pre-arrest bail applications.
However, Iqbalโs counsel, Adnan Ehsan, challenged the investigation process before the court.
He argued that the NCCIA changed the investigation without informing the complainant about the development.
Furthermore, he claimed the new investigating officer cleared the suspects without completing a proper investigation.
## NCCIA Registered Case on Actorโs Complaint
The NCCIA had registered a case following Iqbalโs complaint against Chadhar and his wife.
The complaint accused the suspects of harassing and threatening the actor.
The latest development marks a significant change from the earlier investigation into the allegations.
Meanwhile, the court took note of the investigating officerโs statement and the withdrawal of the suspectsโ bail applications.
The case has drawn public attention because of the allegations involving a ruling party MPA in Punjab Saqib Chadhar and a famous actress Momina Iqbal. Their relationship lasted for more than four years which ended on a bitter note.
