The Italian Embassy in Islamabad has issued new guidelines for Pakistani applicants seeking visas for Italy. Moreover, the embassy urged applicants to use only official booking channels and avoid fraudulent intermediaries.
Embassy Explains Official Visa Appointment Process
The embassy said applicants seeking Schengen, work and family reunion visas must apply through BLS Visa Application Centres. Furthermore, these centres operate in Islamabad, Lahore, Multan and Faisalabad.
Applicants must book appointments through the official Italy Visa website. The embassy also confirmed that a waiting list currently exists for work and family reunion visas because of high demand.
However, officials assured applicants that everyone registered on the waiting list will eventually receive an appointment. Additionally, family reunion applicants joining Italian or European Union citizens must follow a separate process.
These applicants should request appointments directly from the Italian Embassy through a certified Italian email, known as PEC. The embassy advised applicants to review document requirements on its official website before applying.
Students planning to study in Italy must first complete pre-enrolment through the Universitaly portal. Subsequently, BLS will contact eligible students to arrange their visa appointments.
Embassy Warns Against Appointment Fraud
The Italian Embassy also warned applicants against purchasing visa appointments through agents or intermediaries. According to officials, appointments should only be obtained through authorised booking channels.
The embassy said it is aware of agencies illegally selling appointments for money. Consequently, applicants should immediately report anyone offering appointments in exchange for payment.
Officials added they are taking measures to combat appointment fraud and protect genuine applicants. Ultimately, the updated guidance aims to simplify the visa process while ensuring fair access for all Pakistani applicants.
