Emergency vehicles damaged near Nabatieh as Israeli operations continue despite US-mediated framework agreement with Lebanon
BEIRUT: An Israeli drone targeted ambulance teams evacuating an injured person in southern Lebanon’s Nabatieh area on Tuesday, damaging several emergency vehicles, according to Lebanese state media.
Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that ambulance crews were transferring a person wounded in an earlier Israeli strike on a vehicle when the drone attacked the emergency teams.
The targeted responders belonged to the Islamic Health Authority, Bayt al-Talaba and the Islamic Risala Scout Association.
Several ambulances sustained damage in the attack. However, authorities reported no immediate casualties among the paramedics involved in the evacuation operation.
Drone Drops Explosive Materials Near Nabatieh
Earlier on Tuesday, the National News Agency reported another Israeli drone operation near Kfar Rumman, an area adjacent to Nabatieh.
According to the agency, the drone dropped explosive and incendiary materials on the outskirts of the town. However, officials provided no immediate information about casualties or property damage from that incident.
Meanwhile, the latest strikes have renewed concerns over continuing hostilities despite diplomatic attempts to stabilize the Lebanese-Israeli frontier.
Framework Agreement Struggles to Halt Attacks
Beirut and Tel Aviv signed a US-mediated framework agreement in late June aimed at reducing tensions and establishing new security arrangements.
Under the framework, Israel would gradually withdraw from occupied Lebanese territory while Lebanon would deploy its army and disarm armed groups, including Hezbollah.
However, several rounds of negotiations have failed to stop Israeli military operations inside Lebanon.
Lebanese authorities say continuing attacks since March 2 have killed at least 4,335 people and wounded another 12,277.
Furthermore, the conflict has displaced more than one million people as repeated strikes continue to affect communities across Lebanon.
The latest ambulance incident highlights the fragile security situation despite continuing diplomatic efforts to implement the agreement and prevent another broader escalation.
