ISLAMABAD: Heavy rain lashed Islamabad this morning. E-11 sector in the capital city received 150 millimetres of rainfall within a few minutes today. It caused widespread water accumulation on roads.
The intense downpour overwhelmed sewerage systems and triggered overflows across several areas, disrupting movement and creating difficult conditions for residents.
Rainwater also entered several basements that the district administration had previously sealed.
Meanwhile, authorities have launched rapid de-watering operations to clear accumulated water from affected roads and residential areas.
Rescue Operations Continue in D-12
Rescue teams are also conducting operations in D-12/2 following the collapse of a protective wall.
However, authorities reported no loss of life or property from the wall collapse.
Officials continue monitoring the situation as heavy rainfall affects different parts of the federal capital.
The administration has deployed teams to respond to water accumulation and other weather-related emergencies.
Traffic Disrupted Across Islamabad
Water accumulation has slowed traffic on several major roads, including Islamabad Expressway.
