Authorities have completely sealed Islamabad’s D-Chowk ahead of planned political protests. They have also placed containers at several roads and entry points across the capital.
The measures aim to restrict protesters from entering Islamabad during demonstrations planned by various political groups, including PTI and Jamaat-e-Islami.
Containers Block Key Routes
Authorities have deployed containers at several major entry and exit points. These include T-Chowk Rawat, Serena Chowk, Srinagar Highway, Margalla Avenue and Faizabad.
Security teams have also placed barriers along important roads inside and around the capital. The move follows a government review of routes connecting Islamabad with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Trenches Planned on Routes From KP
The authorities have also planned trenches on several roads leading towards Islamabad from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The proposed locations include G.T. Road, Chungi No. 26, Pir Wadhai, IGP Road, Aswal Mor and Katti Pahari.
Officials surveyed the routes before finalising the security plan. They also identified key points where authorities could install additional barriers.
Security Tightened Ahead of Political Rallies
The government has directed authorities to strengthen security along major routes into Islamabad. Officials aim to prevent large groups of protesters from reaching the capital.
Meanwhile, containers and other barriers remain positioned at several strategic locations as authorities prepare for the planned demonstrations.
