Former senator Mushtaq Ahmed has been handed over to police on a three-day physical remand after his arrest in connection with a protest case registered in Islamabad’s F-10 sector.
The case was registered at Shalimar Police Station against Mushtaq Ahmed, Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai, and several others. According to the first information report (FIR), the protest allegedly involved road blockades, forced shop closures, vandalism, and attacks on police personnel and media representatives.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) approved the physical remand of Mushtaq Ahmed and another accused to facilitate further investigation into the case.
Protest Case Registered at Shalimar Police Station
Police registered the case following a protest held in Islamabad’s F-10 sector.
According to the FIR, Mushtaq Ahmed, Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai, and several other individuals have been nominated in the case.
The police have alleged that multiple offences occurred during the demonstration. Therefore, an investigation has been initiated to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Court Approves Three-Day Physical Remand
Following the registration of the case, the Anti-Terrorism Court heard the matter.
The court subsequently handed former senator Mushtaq Ahmed and another accused over to the police on a three-day physical remand.
The remand will allow investigators to continue their inquiry into the allegations mentioned in the FIR.
FIR Details Alleged Protest Activities
According to the FIR, approximately 400 to 500 people participated in the protest in Sector F-10.
Police alleged that protesters blocked the road, disrupting the flow of traffic and bringing vehicular movement in the area to a standstill.
The FIR also states that protesters allegedly forced shopkeepers to close their businesses during the demonstration.
In addition, the case includes allegations of vandalism and attacks on police personnel as well as media representatives.
Investigation Underway
The investigation into the protest case is continuing. Police are examining the allegations contained in the FIR while gathering evidence related to the incident.
Meanwhile, the physical remand granted by the Anti-Terrorism Court will remain in effect for three days as investigators continue legal proceedings in accordance with the law.
