The Islamabad district administration has finalized a digital registration system for taxi and bike-hailing services. The initiative targets unregistered operators working within the federal capital.
Authorities reviewed the development during a high-level meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad. The meeting focused on enforcement measures and implementation strategies for the new system.
During the session, officials presented details of the newly developed digital dashboard. The system will allow authorities to formally register all taxi and bike-hailing services operating in Islamabad. As a result, transport monitoring will become more structured and transparent.
Officials explained that citizens will be able to verify registered vehicles using a QR code. This feature will instantly confirm a driver’s registration status and credentials. Consequently, passengers will gain greater confidence before starting a journey.
Formal registration of taxi and bike services will begin from tomorrow. Drivers and service providers will complete registration through the Islamabad City App. The process has been designed to ensure ease of access and quick compliance.
Under the new system, drivers must enter passenger CNIC numbers and travel details before starting a trip. This requirement will allow one-click verification of drivers and journeys. Therefore, authorities believe the system will significantly enhance passenger safety.
The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad stated that the primary objective is safer travel across the city. Officials aim to strengthen accountability within the transport sector. Moreover, digital records will help prevent misuse of ride-hailing services.
The district administration has warned that strict action will follow against unregistered operators. Taxi and bike services operating without registration will face enforcement measures. Additionally, a decision has been taken to ensure complete registration of online taxi platforms.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner East has been directed to liaise with chief executives of all taxi services. At the same time, the Secretary Islamabad Transport Authority has been instructed to launch a crackdown against unregistered bike services.
Furthermore, Islamabad Police will receive access to the registration database. Drivers will not be permitted to carry passengers without entering required trip details. This condition will take effect as formal registration begins.
