Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar expressed condolences to Venezuela following devastating earthquakes during a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister Fรฉlix Plasencia. He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued support for the Venezuelan government and its people.
Dar Conveys Condolences During Phone Call
According to the Foreign Office, Dar congratulated Plasencia on his recent appointment before offering condolences over the disaster. Furthermore, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with Venezuela during the recovery process.
Two powerful earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 struck Venezuela’s Yaracuy state on June 24. According to Venezuelan authorities, the disaster claimed at least 5,069 lives and injured 16,740 people.
Dar expressed confidence in Venezuela’s resilience and recovery following the deadly earthquakes. Meanwhile, Plasencia thanked Pakistan for its message of sympathy and humanitarian support.
The Venezuelan foreign minister also highlighted the importance of international solidarity during times of crisis. Consequently, he appreciated Pakistan’s support for victims of the natural disaster.
Ministers Discuss Bilateral Cooperation
Plasencia also acknowledged Pakistan’s role in promoting dialogue and de-escalation between the United States and Iran. Additionally, he praised Islamabad’s commitment to diplomacy and regional peace.
During the conversation, both ministers reviewed longstanding relations between Pakistan and Venezuela. They also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The two sides discussed expanding collaboration in trade, investment, agriculture, information technology, and business. Furthermore, they recognised significant opportunities to increase economic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.
Dar stressed the importance of sustained high-level engagement to deepen bilateral relations. Finally, both ministers agreed to remain in close contact and meet at the earliest appropriate opportunity.
