Delegation reportedly includes six ministers as security and bilateral ties take centre stage
ISLAMABAD: Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni is expected to arrive in Pakistan on Monday evening leading a high-level delegation that reportedly includes six Iranian ministers, according to a Pakistani Interior Ministry source cited by Al Mayadeen.
The report said the visit is expected to feature a series of meetings with senior Pakistani officials aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation on security, border management and regional issues. However, Pakistani and Iranian authorities had not officially released the full itinerary at the time of reporting.
According to the source, the Iranian delegation is also expected to discuss matters of mutual interest as both countries seek to enhance coordination on regional stability and cross-border cooperation.
Army chief meeting reportedly planned
The report further stated that the Iranian interior minister is expected to meet Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, during the visit. However, no official confirmation of the meeting had been issued by Pakistan’s military media wing or the Iranian government.
If held, the meeting would likely focus on security cooperation, border management, counterterrorism coordination and broader regional developments, areas that have remained central to dialogue between Islamabad and Tehran.
Visit comes amid regional diplomacy
The reported visit follows a period of heightened diplomatic engagement across the region as neighbouring countries seek to address evolving security challenges and maintain regional stability.
Pakistan and Iran share a long border and have continued engaging through diplomatic and security channels on issues including cross-border security, trade and economic cooperation.
Although details of the delegation’s agenda remain limited, officials from both countries are expected to review existing areas of cooperation and explore opportunities for closer coordination.
Neither Pakistan’s Interior Ministry nor Iran’s Interior Ministry had issued an official statement confirming the composition of the delegation or the schedule of meetings by the time of publication.
