Foreign Ministry says diplomatic contacts continue despite no planned official trips
TEHRAN: Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday said there are currently no plans for Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi or Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf to visit Pakistan or Qatar, while emphasizing that Tehran remains in close diplomatic contact with both countries over regional developments.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei confirmed that no official visits by the two senior Iranian officials are scheduled at present. However, he stressed that Iran continues to exchange views with Islamabad and Doha as part of ongoing diplomatic engagement aimed at addressing regional issues.
The clarification came amid heightened speculation over possible high-level visits following recent diplomatic activity involving Iran and several regional states. Baghaei did not provide further details regarding the timing of any future visits or the specific subjects under discussion.
Regional consultations remain active
Although no travel plans have been finalized, Iran reaffirmed that communication channels with Pakistan and Qatar remain active. According to Baghaei, Tehran continues to hold regular consultations with both governments on matters of mutual interest, including regional security and political developments.
Pakistan and Qatar have remained important diplomatic partners for Iran during recent efforts to promote dialogue and reduce tensions across the region. Iranian officials have repeatedly highlighted the importance of regional cooperation and consultation in addressing ongoing challenges.
