Tehran vows continued operations while CENTCOM announces new strikes on Iran
TEHRAN: Iran announced early Wednesday that it had launched a seventh wave of drone strikes targeting a United States military base in Jordan, as the military confrontation between Tehran and Washington continued to intensify across the region.
In a statement carried by Tasnim News Agency, the Iranian army said the operation targeted Azraq Air Base, claiming the drones struck positions housing F-18 fighter aircraft, accommodation facilities and a large equipment hangar used by US forces. Iranian officials described the attack as part of an ongoing military campaign against American bases and installations in the Middle East.
The army said the latest operation followed six previous rounds of drone attacks, which it described as retaliation for alleged US violations of the ceasefire and military actions against Iranian territory. It also warned that any attack on Iran’s land, territorial waters or airspace would prompt further retaliation.
Meanwhile, Iranian media reported explosions at several locations across the country as hostilities continued.
Kuwait reports casualties as military operations expand
At the same time, US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced another wave of strikes on Iranian military targets, stating that the operation aimed to reduce capabilities used to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM also confirmed that US naval blockade measures against Iranian ports and coastal areas had resumed.
Separately, Kuwait’s Ministry of Defence reported that four military personnel were injured after Iranian missile and drone attacks targeted the region. According to the ministry, air defence systems intercepted one ballistic missile, five cruise missiles and 33 drones launched from Iran since Tuesday evening.
Authorities urged residents to follow official safety guidance and avoid approaching or photographing debris from intercepted missiles and drones.
The latest escalation comes despite continued diplomatic efforts under a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding intended to reduce tensions and establish a framework for lasting peace between Washington and Tehran.
