Paul Walker’s brother Cody Walker has rejected the idea of bringing Brian O’Conner back through AI for the final Fast & Furious movie.
Cody said he does not want to return as a stunt double for his late brother. He also believes Brian already received a fitting conclusion in the franchise.
Cody Walker rejects Brian O’Conner comeback
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Cody discussed the possibility of using artificial intelligence to recreate Paul Walker’s character.
He noted that AI technology was not available in 2014. However, the franchise still has years of unused footage that could potentially help bring Brian back.
Despite that possibility, Cody said he is not interested in returning as Paul’s stunt double for Fast Forever. The movie is expected to arrive in cinemas in 2028.
Brian already had a “beautiful ending”
Cody said he is satisfied with how Brian’s story ended after Paul Walker’s death.
Rather than killing Brian off, the filmmakers showed the character stepping away from the action. Brian instead left to raise his children, giving the character a peaceful conclusion.
Cody described that ending as a “beautiful ending” and indicated that he does not believe Brian needs another farewell.
However, he said the situation could be different if Paul’s daughter, Meadow Walker, wanted to see her father’s character return.
Cody explained that any decision should reflect Meadow’s wishes. He also said there would be no need for him or their brother Caleb Walker to participate.
Paul Walker’s death changed the franchise
Paul Walker died in a car crash in 2013 while Furious 7 was still in production.
Following his death, Cody and Caleb helped complete some scenes in his place. Visual effects were also used to finish the movie and provide Brian with a farewell.
The brothers had previously remained open to the possibility of bringing Brian back in 2018. However, Cody now says he is no longer interested in taking part.
Vin Diesel wants Brian and Dom reunited
Cody’s position differs from that of franchise star Vin Diesel, who expressed a different view in 2025.
Diesel said one of his three conditions for the final film involved reuniting Dom and Brian O’Conner.
The comments have added another layer to the ongoing discussion surrounding Brian’s possible return. However, Cody said he does not know whether Paul will appear one final time in the movie.
He also said he has spoken with Vin Diesel, who is taking the final film and the question of Brian’s possible return very seriously.
Fast Forever set to close the franchise
Fast Forever is being described as the final instalment in the long-running Fast & Furious franchise.
The film is scheduled to reach cinemas on March 17, 2028. Meanwhile, the question of whether Brian O’Conner will appear remains open.
For Cody Walker, however, Brian’s story already ended in a meaningful way. He remains unconvinced that recreating the character with AI would add anything to that conclusion.
