Internet services have been fully restored across Islamabad and Rawalpindi after a technical fault disrupted connectivity.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) confirmed that the issue was caused by a fault in an optical fiber network.
PTA Confirms Network Restoration
According to the PTA, the optical fiber fault occurred within the network of a telecom operator.
Technical teams were deployed to identify and repair the problem.
The repair work has now been completed. Internet services have returned to normal across the affected areas.
Mobile Data and Wi-Fi Services Restored
The disruption had affected both mobile data and Wi-Fi connectivity in parts of the twin cities.
Users reported difficulties accessing internet-based services during the outage.
Following the repair, connectivity has been restored and services are now fully operational, the PTA said.
The authority had earlier confirmed that technical teams were working to resolve the fault as quickly as possible.
No Further Disruption Reported
The internet restoration comes amid heightened security concerns in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
A protest had been announced for Sunday, but the planned demonstration was later delayed.
The PTA has not linked the internet disruption to the security situation. The authority attributed the outage to the optical fiber fault.
