The UAE Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) has announced a two-month visa amnesty starting September 1, 2024. During this period, individuals can address their visa issues or leave the UAE without facing fines or bans.
The amnesty applies to all visa types, including tourist visas and expired residency permits. Those born without documentation are also eligible to regularize their status. “This is an excellent opportunity for anyone in the UAE with an irregular status to either fix their residency situation or exit the country without incurring penalties,” the ICP stated during a press briefing on Wednesday.
Individuals who opt to leave during the amnesty period can return to the UAE at any time with a proper visa, as no overstay fines or exit fees will be enforced.
This marks the fourth amnesty program initiated by the UAE government since 2007, with the most recent one occurring in 2018.
