In a shocking incident, a Spanish tourist traveling by bike with her spouse in Jharkhand’s Dumka district was subjected to a gang rape. The horrifying incident occurred late on Friday night in Dumka’s Hansdiha neighborhood when the couple decided to spend the night in a homemade tent at an abandoned location.

The couple, en route from Dumka to Bhagalpur in Bihar, had stopped at the Hansdiha market to rest for the night. They were reportedly riding a two-wheeler from Bangladesh to Dumka and were on their way across Bihar to Nepal.

Three individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the heinous crime. Santosh Kumar, a police officer in Jarmundi Sub Divisional, confirmed the incident and stated, “The incident of gang rape occurred on Friday night.”

In addition to the sexual assault, the couple was also physically assaulted by the perpetrators. The victim is currently undergoing various medical tests at Phulo Jhano Medical College Hospital in Dumka. The police have initiated further investigations into the incident.

The brutal attack highlights the vulnerability of travelers, even in what might be considered less densely populated or remote areas. The incident also underscores the need for enhanced security measures and awareness campaigns to protect tourists and address issues of violence against women. Authorities are expected to pursue a thorough investigation to ensure justice for the victim and hold the perpetrators accountable for their reprehensible actions.
