Sinead O’Connor Estate Condemns Trump’s Use of Music at Rallies

The estate of the late Sinéad O’Connor, the acclaimed Irish singer, has issued a strong condemnation towards former US President Donald Trump, demanding an immediate cessation of the use of O’Connor’s music at his political rallies.

Trump’s inclusion of O’Connor’s iconic rendition of “Nothing Compares 2 U” during a recent campaign event has sparked sharp criticism from the singer’s estate, deeming the act disrespectful and offensive.

In a united statement released by Chrysalis Records, O’Connor’s longstanding label, and her estate, they underscored the singer’s commitment to a moral code characterized by honesty, kindness, and decency.

Expressing outrage at Trump’s use of O’Connor’s music, the estate pointed to the singer’s past characterization of the former president as a “biblical devil.”

“It is not an overstatement to say that Sinéad would have found it appalling, distressing, and offensive to witness her work misrepresented in this manner by someone she herself labeled a ‘biblical devil’,” asserted the joint statement.

O’Connor, whose rendition of “Nothing Compares 2 U” in 1990 catapulted her to international fame, dominated the UK charts for weeks with the haunting ballad. Beyond her musical impact, she was known for candid discussions about mental health struggles and vocal criticism of the Catholic Church, contributing significantly to societal norms in Ireland.

Her unexpected passing in July at the age of 56 shocked the world, with a coroner attributing her death to natural causes. Nevertheless, her legacy endures, with her estate staunchly protecting the integrity of her artistic contributions.
