Sikh Community Confronts Indian Ambassador in US Over Alleged Assassination Plots

A group of Sikh community members confronted Indian Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu at a New York Gurdwara during his visit to Hicksville Gurdwara in Long Island on the occasion of Gurpurab.

In the video footage, protesters surrounded the Indian ambassador, accusing him of plotting the assassination of Canadian national Hardeep Singh Nijjar and conspiring to get another leader, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, murdered.

The confrontation follows reports that US authorities thwarted a conspiracy to kill Pannun, the leader of the Khalistani organization Sikhs for Justice, on American soil.

The White House acknowledged the seriousness of the reported plot, raised the issue with the Indian government at senior levels, and stated that the US is treating the matter with utmost seriousness.

In September, Canada expelled India’s head of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), accusing India of involvement in the killing of Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

The strained relations between Ottawa and New Delhi further deteriorated as Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called for Indian cooperation in addressing the matter.

Delhi civic body deploys anti-smog guns with large tanks to combat air pollution

Meanwhile, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has introduced an anti-smog gun with the largest tank capacity as part of its efforts to combat air pollution in Lutyens’ Delhi. Delhi’s air quality has been categorized as “severe,” and authorities are looking to meteorological changes to improve conditions.

The newly deployed anti-smog gun is mounted on a 28-tonne CNG truck chassis, featuring a water tank with a capacity of 17,000 liters, the largest among all anti-smog guns deployed in Delhi by various agencies.

The substantial water tank allows the anti-smog gun to operate continuously for three hours. It has a throwing capacity of 30 to 50 meters and includes side nozzles to efficiently clean footpaths, shrubs, and plants.

The anti-smog gun covers an average area of 70 km per day along avenue roads in the NDMC area during two shifts. Another anti-smog gun has been acquired by the NDMC and is in use at Pandit Pant Marg in the NDMC area, according to a report published on India Today.
