Following his visit to Saudi Arabia, PM Shehbaz will travel to Qatar on Thursday to participate in COP29. He arrived in Riyadh on Tuesday for a two-day visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and attending the Future Investment Initiative summit.
At the airport, he was welcomed by Riyadh Deputy Governor Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz and Pakistan’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Farooq. His delegation includes key cabinet members such as the finance, defense, privatization, information, petroleum, and commerce ministers.
According to the Foreign Office, the Future Investment Initiative (FII) is an important platform for countries to showcase economic strength, attract foreign investment, and engage in discussions about sustainable futures. This year’s theme, “Infinite Horizons: Investing Today, Shaping Tomorrow,” will focus on global investments addressing critical issues like artificial intelligence, robotics, education, energy, finance, healthcare, and sustainability.
PM Shehbaz is expected to hold bilateral talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and other senior officials to discuss the economic and strategic partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, exploring cooperation in the economic, energy, and defense sectors. He will also engage with leaders and entrepreneurs at the summit.
After his time in Saudi Arabia, PM Shehbaz will head to Qatar, where he has been invited by Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to inaugurate an exhibition showcasing Pakistani exports, arts, and culture in Doha. He is also scheduled to meet with the emir and other leaders to discuss investment opportunities in Pakistan.
