Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Dr Mohammad Faisal, has advised overseas Pakistanis residing in the UK to focus on their personal growth and not be overly concerned about the issues in their home country.
Speaking at the Consulate of Pakistan in Bradford, UK, he encouraged overseas Pakistanis to strive for success in the UK, asserting that as they rise, Pakistan will also rise.
Dr Faisal suggested that if individuals strongly feel the need to address challenges in Pakistan, they should return and contribute to fixing the issues. He emphasized that while being successful would benefit Pakistan, not succeeding wouldn’t matter, and individuals could always return to the UK.
Journalist Amir Mateen criticized Dr Faisal, calling for his recall to Pakistan, alleging that he was engaging in partisan politics. Mateen argued that Dr Faisal’s role should be to secure the best benefits for Pakistan from the UK, rather than advising overseas Pakistanis to forget about their homeland.
Dr Faisal acknowledged the challenges in Pakistan but emphasized that it is the responsibility of people within the country to address domestic issues. He urged Pakistani expatriates to concentrate solely on their lives in the foreign countries where they reside.
Notably, Dr Faisal recently presented his credentials to King Charles III at Buckingham Palace, arriving in a royal horse carriage with his wife. During the ceremony, he conveyed greetings and best wishes from President Dr Arif Alvi and Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar to King Charles.
Legal Challenge Unleashed: Petition Targets President Alvi, Alleges Misuse of Office
Meanwhile, a petition has been lodged with the Supreme Court of Pakistan, leveling accusations against President Arif Alvi for allegedly abusing his presidential authority and bringing it into disrepute.
The petitioner has urged the court to either prohibit Arif Alvi from exercising his presidential powers or to oust him from his position. Ghulam Murtaza, the citizen filing the petition, asserted that President Arif Alvi has misappropriated his authoritative role, tarnishing the dignity of the presidential office.
Emphasizing that the president represents the entire nation rather than any specific political party, the petition contended that Arif Alvi has devoted the presidential office to activities aligned with the PTI.
