Pakistan Warns Iran after Air Strike: ‘No Country in Region Should Tread This Perilous Path’

Caretaker Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Jalil Abbas Jilani conveyed a stern message to his Iranian counterpart, emphasizing that no country should unilaterally launch attacks on a neighboring nation’s soil in the fight against terrorism.

During a telephone call with Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Jilani underscored the perils of such actions, particularly emphasizing that no nation in the region should embark on this risky path.

This conversation occurred shortly after Tehran claimed responsibility for an attack targeting “terrorists” in Pakistan, an incident that resulted in the tragic death of two children and injuries to three girls on the Pakistani side. In response, Pakistan expelled Iran’s ambassador and recalled its envoy in Tehran.

The decision to suspend all high-level visits between the two countries in progress or planned was also announced by Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch.

FM Jilani, during the call, strongly condemned the attack by Iran on Pakistani territory, citing it as a severe breach of sovereignty, a violation of international law, and a betrayal of the spirit of bilateral relations.

He expressed Pakistan’s unequivocal condemnation and asserted the incident had inflicted serious harm on the diplomatic ties between the two nations. Additionally, Jilani asserted Pakistan’s “right to respond to this provocative act.”

While acknowledging terrorism as a common regional threat requiring coordinated efforts, FM Jilani emphasized that unilateral actions could jeopardize regional peace and stability.

The Iranian state media reported that Tehran targeted the bases of the self-proclaimed terrorist organization, “Green Mountain,” inside Pakistani territory, using drones and missiles, resulting in the destruction of the group’s headquarters.
