Pakistan Voices Deep Concerns Over Israel’s Military Incursion in West Bank

Islamabad Urges UNSC to Act Swiftly to Prevent Genocide in Palestine.

On Thursday, Pakistan voiced deep concerns over the recent large-scale military incursion by Israeli forces into the occupied West Bank.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, at her weekly briefing in Islamabad, condemned the attack as a severe breach of international law, including the 4th Geneva Convention, which forbids indiscriminate attacks on civilians.

The recent Israeli operation, which commenced on Wednesday, resulted in the deaths of at least 11 Palestinians, including children, with the United Nations reporting civilian casualties. Hamas also noted that among the deceased were three members of its armed wing from the Jenin refugee camp.

Baloch reiterated Pakistan’s call for the UN Security Council to act decisively to prevent further genocide of Palestinians, address Israel’s violations of international laws and the UN Charter, and hold those responsible for war crimes accountable.

She also condemned the bombing of the historic Grand Mosque in Khan Younis, describing the attack on such a culturally and religiously significant site as a clear breach of international law and the Hague Convention.

Additionally, Baloch highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, noting that Foreign Secretary Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi is set to address these issues at the 50th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Cameroon. He will discuss the genocide in Gaza, the humanitarian crisis, and Israeli actions in the region, alongside concerns over human rights violations in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Islamophobia, and climate change.
