DUBAI: The Embassy of Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates has refuted media reports claiming that the UAE government had shared a document outlining reasons for imposing visa restrictions on Pakistani nationals.
“These reports are factually incorrect. No such document has been provided by the UAE authorities,” the embassy said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
The statement emphasized that Pakistan maintains strong and cordial relations with the UAE, and both governments are committed to addressing any issues of mutual concern through official channels and constructive dialogue.
“The embassy remains dedicated to protecting the interests of Pakistani nationals in the UAE and will continue to work closely with UAE authorities to further enhance the friendly ties between our two nations,” it added.
The denial follows media reports suggesting that the UAE government had imposed a visa ban on Pakistani nationals. These reports claimed that the Emirati authorities had shared documents with the Pakistani embassy, stating that the visa restrictions were proposed during a cabinet meeting. The decision was reportedly driven by complaints about the conduct of some Pakistani citizens, including online protests, criticism of UAE government policies, and misuse of digital platforms, which were seen as harmful to the UAE’s reputation.
The documents also raised concerns over allegations of identity document forgery, including altered national ID cards and passports, and highlighted criminal activities such as theft, fraud, begging, and drug-related offenses, reportedly more common among Pakistani nationals than other nationalities.
