Pakistan And Azerbaijan to Bolster Relations through enhanced audit cooperation

On Friday, President Dr. Arif Alvi advocated for enhanced collaboration between the supreme audit institutions of Pakistan and Azerbaijan to share best auditing practices, thereby promoting transparency and financial accountability. During a meeting with Vugar Gulmammadov, Chairman of the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Azerbaijan, President Alvi highlighted the crucial role of public sector accounting in ensuring transparency and accountability in government spending.

The meeting, attended by Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) Muhammad Ajmal Gondal and AGP officials, saw Chairman Gulmammadov briefing the president about the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the Supreme Audit Institution of Azerbaijan (CAA) and Pakistan’s AGP for peer reviews of public accounts. Emphasizing that the MOU would strengthen friendly relations between the two nations, Gulmammadov expressed optimism about the increased cooperation facilitated by this agreement.

President Alvi commended the signing of the MOU, stating that it would enhance collaboration in the field of Public Sector Auditing between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. He praised the role of AGP in conducting peer reviews of Azerbaijan’s Supreme Audit Institution (SAI).

Addressing the delegation, President Alvi underscored the special importance Pakistan placed on its relations with Azerbaijan, rooted in common faith, shared history, and people-to-people connections. He stressed the significance of promoting cultural exchanges and strengthening cooperation in cultural and economic domains for fostering understanding and mutually beneficial development between the two nations. Describing the cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan as pivotal for regional peace, stability, and development, President Alvi extended congratulations to President Ilham Aliyev on his re-election and expressed optimism about further strengthening bilateral relations during his tenure.
