Russia claimed on Friday that Ukraine had used U.S supplied rockets to kill women and children in the Belgorod region, located in southern Russia.
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, attributed the blame to Washington, asserting that the United States had permitted Ukraine to fire these weapons into Russian territory as a defensive measure for Ukraine’s Kharkiv region.
Zakharova stated that the attacks, which allegedly resulted in fatalities last week, were a direct consequence of the U.S. authorization, accusing Washington of effectively confessing to the “murder of children and women in the Belgorod region.” She claimed that fragments of the HIMARS rockets would serve as undeniable evidence of the U.S.’s involvement.
However, Reuters was unable to independently verify these allegations, and neither Ukraine nor the United States provided an immediate response. Zakharova did not present any images of the rocket fragments, nor did she specify the number of casualties in the incident.
