TRT Arabi correspondent Sami Barhoum reported that his crew was deliberately targeted and shot at by Israeli snipers at least five times. The Turkish public broadcaster’s team was working to cover the ongoing situation in Gaza when their vehicle was struck by gunfire from long-barreled weapons.
On Sunday, Barhoum and his team were in the northwest of Khan Younis when their vehicle came under fire. The car was hit by five bullets, but fortunately, there were no severe injuries, though Barhoum suffered minor wounds.
Barhoum emphasized that their vehicle, marked for the press, was clearly identified as belonging to journalists. He described the attack as a direct assault on their mission to report from the field.
In response, TRT’s Director General Zahid Sobaci condemned the attack on X, stating: “Despite all obstacles from the terrorist state of Israel, which recognizes no moral or humanitarian boundaries, we will continue to be the voice of Gaza.”
