The UN Human Rights Office has called for an immediate halt to Israeli military raids in the Jenin refugee camp.
In a statement, the office criticized Israel’s use of weapons and military tactics in the densely populated area, which is home to approximately 11,000 Palestinians. The ongoing operation in Jenin and nearby areas has reportedly resulted in unlawful killings, increased insecurity for Palestinian residents, and significant destruction within the camp.
On Saturday, clashes erupted between Israeli troops and Palestinian fighters as Israel continued its military operation in Jenin. The operation, one of the largest in recent months, has seen hundreds of Israeli troops conducting raids since Wednesday.
