The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted a significant counterterrorism operation in the West Bank, focusing on militant activities in Jenin, Tulkarem, and nearby regions, as reported by the military on Wednesday morning.
This coordinated effort, involving the Israel Border Police, the Israel Security Agency (ISA), and hundreds of IDF troops with substantial air support, was launched in response to the attempted suicide bombing in Tel Aviv on August 18.
In Jenin, the Israel Air Force (IAF) carried out an aerial strike, killing three armed Palestinians. The operation also resulted in the deaths of two other Palestinians, the arrest of several wanted suspects, and the seizure of military equipment, weapons, and ammunition.
A spokesman for the Red Crescent confirmed that 10 Palestinians were killed, and 15 others were wounded during the operation. Additionally, Israeli media reported that IDF forces conducted operations at the Ibn Sina Hospital.
Earlier in Tulkarem, the IDF killed five militants in a drone strike on a terrorist operations center in the Nur al-Shams refugee camp on Monday. Among those killed was a terrorist recently released in the November 2023 hostage exchange.
During a 14-hour operation in Tulkarem in late August, three more militants were killed by the Israeli air force, and IDF forces destroyed laboratories producing explosives. Soldiers from the Duvdevan unit also demolished the apartment of a wanted individual and arrested another suspect. Additionally, the IDF destroyed explosives planted along the roadside during this operation.
The IDF emphasized that these operations are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and prevent further attacks on Israeli civilians and security forces.
