BEIRUT: On Friday, Hezbollah released a video purportedly showcasing its military capabilities, specifically its use of underground rocket launch sites.
The four-minute and 35-second footage features Hezbollah fighters maneuvering trucks equipped with rocket launchers through a network of tunnels leading to an underground launch area.
The video includes scenes of fighters riding motorcycles, operating laptops, and driving a fleet of trucks through the rocky, subterranean passages.
Although the authenticity of the footage and its exact location and timing could not be independently verified, it is part of a series of videos the group has released to demonstrate its military assets.
Towards the end of the video, two large metal doors open to reveal a wooded area and the sky, suggesting that the tunnel system is situated underground. One of the trucks then positions its rocket-laden cargo towards this opening, indicating preparation for a potential launch.
The footage identifies the facility as “Imad 4,” named in honor of Imad Mughniyeh, a high-profile Hezbollah commander who was assassinated in 2008. The video also features posters of Mughniyeh, alongside images of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and the late Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani, decorating the tunnel walls.
In response to Hezbollah’s release, the Iranian embassy in Beirut claimed that Iran possesses its own underground missile stations capable of targeting Israel, further emphasizing the region’s complex and volatile military dynamics.
