Congressman Alexander N. Green has been honored with the Sitara-i-Khidmat for his efforts in bolstering the relationship between Pakistan and the United States

Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh praised Congressman Green for his crucial contributions.

In a special ceremony today, Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh presented U.S. Congressman Alexander N. Green with the prestigious Sitara-i-Khidmat, recognizing his exceptional contributions to strengthening Pakistan-U.S. relations.

The award also acknowledges Congressman Green’s efforts to promote a positive image of Pakistan within the U.S. Congress.

The investiture, attended by notable figures including Congressman Randy Weber, Rep. Henry Cuellar, former Congressman Nick Lampson, Texas State Representative Suleman Lalani, diplomats, and prominent members of the Pakistani-American community from Texas and the DMV area, celebrated Congressman Green’s longstanding commitment to enhancing bilateral ties.

Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh praised Congressman Green for his pivotal role in fostering stronger connections between the two nations, highlighting how his dedication has significantly advanced mutual understanding and collaboration.

The Sitara-i-Khidmat, one of Pakistan’s highest civilian honors, is awarded to individuals who have rendered exceptional services to the country. Congressman Green’s unwavering advocacy for a robust partnership between Pakistan and the U.S. has left a notable impact in both political and diplomatic spheres.

Reflecting on Congressman Green’s visit to Pakistan during the devastating floods of 2022, Ambassador Sheikh noted that Green not only showed solidarity with the people of Pakistan but also returned to Congress to advocate for timely aid.

In addition to recognizing humanitarian efforts, Ambassador Sheikh commended Congressman Green for his contributions to combating terrorism in the region and his support for important legislative initiatives, such as the Pakistan Enduring Assistance and Cooperation Enhancement Act of 2009.

Congressman Green, in turn, expressed his gratitude to the government and people of Pakistan for the honor. He emphasized his desire to continue building people-to-people relationships, recalling his fond memories of Pakistani society and underscoring the importance of maintaining strong ties between the people of Pakistan and the U.S.
