China Urges Pakistan for Stern Action After Shangla Attack

Shangla Attack

Strongly denouncing the cowardly suicide attack targeting the staff of the Dasu Hydropower Project, China has called upon Pakistan to take decisive action against those responsible for the heinous act.

The tragic incident, which occurred in Shangla’s Besham city, resulted in the loss of six lives, including five Chinese nationals. According to the Malakand’s deputy inspector general of police (DIG), the attack involved a suicide bomber ramming his explosives-laden vehicle into the car carrying the Chinese nationals.

In a formal statement issued by the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, it was confirmed that a bus transporting staff members of a Chinese company working on the Dasu Hydropower Project was targeted in the attack.

Expressing profound grief over the loss of lives, the embassy extended heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and pledged full cooperation with Pakistani authorities in managing the aftermath.

Additionally, the embassy reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of Chinese citizens, institutions, and projects in Pakistan.

An emergency response plan has been activated, urging Pakistani authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the Shangla attack and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Furthermore, the embassy issued a reminder to Chinese citizens and enterprises in Pakistan to remain vigilant, enhance security measures, and prioritize safety precautions in light of the prevailing security situation.

In solidarity with Pakistan, China stands firm against terrorism and reaffirms its determination to combat such acts of violence.

The incident underscores the importance of international cooperation in addressing terrorism and safeguarding peace and stability in the region.
