Jordan, Qatar, Palestine, and Kuwait have denounced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s claims that Egypt is facilitating weapons smuggling to Hamas through the Egyptian border. Netanyahu’s assertions came as he reiterated his refusal to withdraw Israeli troops from the Philadelphi Corridor, a demilitarized zone along Egypt’s border with Gaza, which he described as a critical supply line for Hamas.
In response, the Jordanian Foreign Ministry rejected these “baseless allegations,” stating they are intended to obstruct mediation efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the US aimed at negotiating a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. The ministry condemned the claims as attempts by Israeli officials to justify their actions in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, and voiced full support for Egypt in countering these accusations, calling them an aggravation of regional tensions.
