In a major step to improve access to clean drinking water in Pakistan’s industrial areas, Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan has partnered with the Government of Japan to set up water filtration plants in Faisalabad and Okara.
The agreement was formalized during a signing ceremony at the Japanese Embassy in Islamabad, where Japanese Ambassador Wada Mitsuhiro and Alkhidmat Foundation’s Vice President, Syed Ihsan Ullah Waqas, led the proceedings.
Under the terms of the agreement, Japan will provide a grant of PKR 19.5 million to fund the installation of seven water filtration plants. Ambassador Mitsuhiro expressed Japan’s continued commitment to supporting projects aimed at improving the quality of life for underserved communities in Pakistan. “Through community-focused initiatives, we strive to bring positive changes to the lives of people in need,” he said, noting that Japan plans to expand its assistance to remote areas of Pakistan.
Syed Ihsan Ullah Waqas thanked the Japanese government for its generous support and assured the swift execution of the project. “These seven filtration plants will soon provide clean, safe drinking water to thousands of families in Faisalabad and Okara,” Waqas said.
He also highlighted Alkhidmat’s ongoing efforts to improve access to clean water, noting that the organization has already installed water facilities worth PKR 312 million, benefiting over 5.6 million people daily.
