Afghan foreign minister Muttaqi arrives in Islamabad to attend trilateral FMs’ dialogue
ISLAMABAD: Afghanistan’s Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi arrived in Islamabad on Friday on a four-day visit to Pakistan.
He will attend the 5th China-Pakistan-Afghanistan Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue to be held in Islamabad on Saturday.
The Foreign Office stated this in a press statement issued on Friday.

Afghan Foreign Minister is heading a high-level delegation. Acting Afghan Minister for Commerce and Industry Haji Nooruddin Azizi, and senior officials from the Afghan ministries of foreign affairs, transport, and trade are also accompanying the Foreign Minister.
“The visit of the Acting Afghan Foreign Minister is a continuation of Pakistan’s political engagement process with Afghanistan,” the Foreign Office said. It added that Pakistan was committed to pursue practical engagement with the Afghan government.
The 5th China-Pakistan-Afghanistan Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue is being held in Islamabad on May 6.
Foreign Minister of China arrives in Islamabad
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister of China Mr. Qin Gang also arrived in Islamabad on a two-day official visit to Pakistan. In addition to participating in the 5th China-Pakistan-Afghanistan Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue, Mr. Qin Gang will also discuss bilateral cooperation with Pakistan.
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari invited China’s State Councillor and Foreign Minister Mr Qin Gang to visit Pakistan.
This is the first official visit of Mr. Qin Gang to Pakistan since assuming office. During his visit, the Chinese foreign minister will hold meetings with the senior officials of the Pakistan government to discuss further improvement in bilateral ties.
Moreover, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and State Councillor Qin Gang will co-chair the 4th round of the Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue.
The Strategic Dialogue is a structured mechanism that reviews bilateral cooperation in key areas.
The two sides will reaffirm the abiding vitality of the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership; develop a roadmap for multidimensional cooperation between Pakistan and China; and discuss the evolving regional and global landscape.
The 3rd round of the Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue took place in July 2021 in Chengdu, China.
The visit of the Chinese foreign minister to Pakistan Mr Qin Gang is being seen as an important development in the prevailing regional situation.
