Pakistan Auto Sales Reach 19,818 Units in July
Pakistan’s automobile market opened the new fiscal year on a strong note, with sales of cars, light commercial vehicles, vans and jeeps rising sharply in July 2026.
According to data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association, total sales reached 19,818 units during the month.
This represented an increase of nearly 80 percent year-on-year compared with 11,034 units sold in July 2025.
However, sales declined by approximately 13 percent month-on-month from 22,741 units recorded in June 2026.
Topline Securities attributed the strong annual improvement to new vehicle launches, the entry of additional brands and stronger auto financing.
The month-on-month decline was linked mainly to uncertainty surrounding Pakistan’s new automobile policy following strong pre-budget buying in June.
Passenger cars accounted for the majority of July sales.
A total of 17,216 passenger cars were sold during the month, up more than 141 percent from 7,135 units in July last year.
Meanwhile, sales of jeeps, pickups, vans and light commercial vehicles stood at 2,602 units.
The 1,300cc-and-above segment remained the largest passenger-car category, recording 9,066 units.
The below-1,000cc segment followed with 7,710 vehicles.
Indus Motor Becomes Only Major Automaker to Record Monthly Growth
Indus Motor Company emerged as one of the strongest performers in July.
The Toyota assembler sold 5,089 vehicles, representing a 53 percent increase from the same month last year and a 45 percent rise from June.
The performance marked the company’s highest monthly sales level in nearly four years.
The improvement was mainly driven by the Toyota Corolla, Yaris and Corolla Cross.
Combined sales of these models climbed to 4,283 units, increasing 77 percent year-on-year and 62 percent month-on-month.
Toyota Fortuner and IMV sales moved in the opposite direction.
Combined sales of the two categories fell 12 percent year-on-year and six percent month-on-month to 806 units.
Indus Motor was the only major automobile manufacturer covered by the market report to record a month-on-month increase in July.
Honda Atlas Cars also recorded strong annual growth but suffered a monthly decline.
Honda sold 2,640 vehicles, up 76 percent year-on-year but down 11 percent compared with June.
Honda City and Civic sales reached 2,529 units, more than doubling from the previous year.
However, they declined three percent month-on-month.
Combined BR-V and HR-V sales fell sharply to just 111 units, down 69 percent year-on-year and 71 percent from June.
Suzuki Leads Volumes While Sazgar Falls to 15-Month Low
Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company remained the largest automaker by monthly sales volume.
The company sold 10,120 vehicles during July.
That represented almost 2.8 times the sales recorded in July last year, although volumes declined 12 percent from June.
The Suzuki Alto remained a major contributor, with 7,217 units sold during the month.
Suzuki Swift sales reached 2,018 units, while Cultus recorded 392 units.
Suzuki Every sales stood at 493 units.
Sazgar Engineering experienced a sharp decline following its strong June performance.
The company sold only 663 four-wheel vehicles in July, its lowest monthly figure in 15 months.
Sales declined 39 percent year-on-year and 76 percent month-on-month.
Sazgar had sold 2,720 units in June.
Interestingly, Sazgar produced 1,778 vehicles during July despite selling only 663.
Topline Securities said the gap between production and sales could reflect delayed deliveries as customers and companies wait for greater clarity on the new automobile policy.
Hyundai Nishat Motors also recorded weaker sales.
Its July sales fell to 710 units, down 42 percent year-on-year and 47 percent month-on-month.
Motorcycles Rise While Tractor Sales Drop Sharply
Pakistan’s wider automobile industry produced mixed results during July.
Two- and three-wheeler sales reached 172,416 units.
This represented a 38 percent increase year-on-year but a four percent decline compared with the previous month.
Tractor sales showed the opposite pattern.
Sales increased four percent compared with July last year but plunged 59 percent month-on-month to only 1,242 units.
Truck and bus sales reached 919 units.
The segment recorded sales around 2.5 times higher than a year earlier but declined 10 percent from June.
Vehicle production also remained strong in July.
Total production of cars, light commercial vehicles, vans and jeeps reached 21,668 units, up nearly 55 percent year-on-year.
Passenger-car production alone rose about 76 percent to 17,307 units.
The strong annual increase suggests Pakistan’s automobile market is continuing its recovery after FY2025-26 recorded substantial growth.
However, the monthly decline in July shows that uncertainty surrounding policy changes and purchasing decisions could continue influencing sales in the coming months.
