Medical Team Conducts Detailed Health Check at Adiala Jail
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan underwent a medical examination at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, according to jail sources.
The medical check-up was conducted by Dr Muhammad Ali Arif and Professor Nadeem Qureshi along with a team from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.
Sources said the doctors carried out a detailed health assessment of the jailed PTI founder. A follow-up examination of his eye condition was also performed during the visit.
The medical team reportedly remained inside the prison for nearly one and a half hours before completing the examination and leaving the facility.
Officials said the medical report will be submitted to the Islamabad commissioner after review and documentation by the doctors.
Imran Khan has remained imprisoned since August 2023 after convictions in several legal cases. The former prime minister maintains that the charges against him are politically motivated.
PTI Leaders Criticize Restrictions on Jail Meeting
The medical examination took place amid rising political tension outside Adiala Jail.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and members of his cabinet were reportedly stopped from meeting Imran Khan at the prison.
Speaking to media representatives near 26 Number Chungi, the chief minister criticized the move and described it as discriminatory treatment.
He stated that the party leadership had arrived peacefully and accused authorities of denying basic rights to the jailed PTI founder.
Afridi emphasized that meetings with family members, legal representatives, and personal doctors are fundamental rights that should not be restricted.
He also expressed concern about Imran Khanโs reported eye condition and called for medical treatment at a hospital chosen by the former prime minister.
The chief minister further stated that the PTI was demanding only constitutional and humanitarian rights for its party leader.
Heavy Security Measures Trigger Traffic Chaos in Islamabad
Authorities implemented strict security arrangements around Adiala Jail and surrounding areas.
Roads near 26 Number Chungi were blocked using barriers to prevent political movement toward the prison.
The restrictions caused severe traffic congestion across major routes connecting Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
Citizens traveling to and from Islamabad International Airport faced long delays due to blocked roads and increased police deployment.
Reports indicated that vehicles remained stuck for extended periods, causing major inconvenience for commuters.
Even emergency vehicles reportedly struggled to move through the gridlock as traffic conditions worsened throughout the day.
Police personnel maintained a heavy presence around the restricted zone to control movement and prevent potential unrest.
The situation remained tense but under control as authorities continued monitoring political activity near the jail premises.
Security officials have not announced how long the restrictions around the prison area will remain in place.
