New Washroom
ISLAMABAD: Punjab Prisons Department (PPD) has constructed a new washroom for PTI Chairman Imran Khan in Attock Jail. The washroom features five-foot-high walls and a door.
The PPD issued a clarification following a visit by Additional District and Sessions Judge Attock Shafquat Ullah Khan, to the former prime minister’s cell.
The judge found valid Imran Khan’s complaints and concerns about his living conditions, particularly the lack of privacy in the washroom.

The PPD said all facilities mandated by rules 257 and 771 of the Pakistan Prisons Rules, 1978 had been provided to the PTI chief.
Addressing the privacy concerns related to the bathroom, the spokesperson stated that a new washroom had been constructed in Imran Khan’s cell. This washroom is equipped with walls that are five feet high, a door, a western commode, and a wash basin.
Imran Khan is currently serving a three-year sentence in Attock Jail. A court in Islamabad awarded jail to Khan in the Toshakhana corruption case this month.
The judge has mentioned in his report that Khan expressed serious concerns about the breach of his privacy and the living conditions within the prison.
Notably, he raised significant issues regarding a CCTV camera positioned in front of his prison bars. The camera covers an open bathroom-cum-latrine and is located at a distance of five to six feet.
The spokesperson clarified that the jail authorities have placed the CCTV cameras outside the room for both Imran Khan’s security and jail security.
At present, over 4,000 CCTV cameras are working in District Jail Attock and other Punjab jails for security purposes.
The spokesperson also said the PPD has provided bath soap, perfume, air freshener, towels, and tissue papers to Imran Khan.
Additionally, the cell is furnished with a bed, pillows, mattresses, tables, chairs, air conditioners, and exhaust fans.
Jail authorities are giving special meals to Imran Khan after checking by doctors. Furthermore, amenities like fruits, honey, dates, a prayer mat, Quran, and books are also available.
The spokesperson said that Khan’s family meets him on Tuesdays, while his lawyers visit on Thursdays.
