ISLAMABAD: Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has announced that Islamabad Police will recruit 9,000 new personnel to strengthen the force and improve policing across the federal capital.
Speaking at a press conference, the Inspector General said the recruitment campaign will include positions for Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), Sub-Inspectors (SIs), Direct Inspectors and several other ranks.
Rizvi said the large-scale hiring initiative is intended to address the growing operational requirements of the police force while replacing a significant number of officers who are approaching retirement.
According to the IGP, bringing in younger personnel will help improve field operations, enhance law enforcement capabilities and ensure the force remains adequately staffed to meet the city’s security needs.
Police to Expand Electric Vehicle Fleet
Alongside the recruitment drive, Rizvi announced plans to further expand Islamabad Police’s fleet of electric vehicles.
He said the police patrolling unit, which recently received 50 electric vehicles, will soon be provided with another 50 EVs to strengthen patrol operations across the capital.
In addition, the Islamabad Traffic Police will receive 40 electric patrol vehicles aimed at improving traffic management, emergency response and road safety enforcement.
The latest recruitment announcement follows the department’s ongoing efforts to expand its workforce. Last month, Islamabad Police advertised more than 1,700 vacancies for executive and ministerial positions, including ASIs, constables, band staff, mounted police personnel, assistants, production assistants, stenotypists, data entry operators, upper division clerks and lower division clerks.
Officials said the expanded recruitment and modernization initiatives are part of broader efforts to improve policing standards, increase operational efficiency and enhance public safety throughout Islamabad.
