LAHORE: The Punjab government has launched the โApni Chhat, Mehfooz Chhatโ Scheme 2026 to help citizens repair, strengthen and expand their homes. Under the scheme, eligible citizens can receive interest-free loans between Rs500,000 and Rs1 million.
Those seeking roof repairs or structural improvements can receive Rs500,000. They will repay the loan over nine years through monthly installments of Rs4,700.
Meanwhile, citizens planning to expand their homes can obtain loans of up to Rs1 million. This category also covers second-floor construction.
Borrowers in this category will repay the loan over nine years. The monthly installment will stand at Rs9,300.
The initiative aims to support homeowners facing financial difficulties while improving housing conditions across Punjab.
Citizens Can Apply Online or Through Offices
Interested applicants can submit applications through the official online portal by providing the required information and documents.
However, citizens who cannot apply online can also submit handwritten applications. They can visit the offices of Deputy Commissioners or Assistant Commissioners.
Applicants may also approach the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency for assistance.
The government has introduced the scheme to provide affordable financing for home improvements. Consequently, eligible residents can strengthen existing houses without paying interest on the loans.
The initiative is expected to support safer housing and allow families to expand their homes according to their needs.
