LAHORE: The Punjab government has launched the Electric Bike Scheme 2026 to help students purchase electric motorcycles through affordable, interest-free installments.
Under the initiative, eligible male students can receive electric bikes after paying Rs15,000 upfront and around Rs2,000 monthly.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced the scheme during a ceremony in Arifwala.
She also announced education reforms, including Nawaz Sharif Schools of Eminence in every tehsil and modern public schools.
Additionally, the government plans to establish Artificial Intelligence laboratories across Punjab.
Eligibility rules announced for applicants
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, while certain categories can receive age relaxation up to 35 years.
They must also study as regular students at HEC-recognized degree colleges or universities.
Furthermore, applicants need a valid Punjab domicile and a motorcycle driving licence or learner’s permit.
They must not own a registered motor vehicle. The government will allot only one electric bike per family.
Applicants can submit their forms through the official online portal using their CNIC and personal information.
They must complete the application, upload required documents and await verification and computerized balloting.
Required documents include a CNIC or B-Form, student certificate, Punjab domicile, driving licence or learner’s permit and passport photographs.
Applicants should avoid unofficial websites and agents.
Meanwhile, female students across Punjab will receive electric bikes free of cost under the scheme.
Students can apply through the official Punjab electric bike portal.
