Punjab is bracing for another spell of monsoon rain, with authorities warning of urban flooding and landslides across several areas.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab issued the alert as the eighth monsoon spell begins.
The spell is expected to continue from today until September 5. Meanwhile, most districts across the province are likely to receive rain.
Several areas could also experience heavy rainfall during this period. Therefore, the PDMA has directed district administrations to remain prepared.
Which Punjab Cities Face the Highest Risk?
The PDMA has specifically warned of urban flooding in five cities. These include Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Gujrat, and Sialkot.
At the same time, Murree and Galiyat face a heightened risk of landslides. Their mountainous terrain increases the potential for such incidents during heavy rainfall.
The warning places seven cities and areas under particular attention during the latest monsoon spell.
However, rainfall is not limited to these locations. Several other districts and cities are also expected to receive rain.
Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang, Attock, Sheikhupura, Narowal, and Mandi Bahauddin are among the areas facing rainfall.
Wazirabad, Hafizabad, Kasur, Okara, Nankana Sahib, Sargodha, and Khushab are also included in the forecast.
Rain is further expected in Mianwali and Noorpur Thal during the ongoing spell.
More Areas Expected to Receive Rain
The PDMA has also included several districts in central and southern Punjab in its rainfall outlook.
Faisalabad, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh are expected to receive rain. Layyah, Bhakkar, Sahiwal, and Pakpattan are also likely to experience rainfall.

PDMA Director General Syed Inam Anwar Jappa has directed commissioners and deputy commissioners to ensure precautionary measures.
